Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (one red, one green), sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, minced

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine, cornstarch, sugar, water, and sesame oil to make the sauce. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the steak slices and stir-fry until browned but not fully cooked, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the onions and bell peppers, stir-frying until they are just tender, about 2-4 minutes.
  4. Return the steak to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the steak and vegetables. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients, about 2 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds if desired.
