- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 packet dry onion soup mix
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup ketchup, plus more for topping if desired
- 1 cup plain, dry breadcrumbs
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the beaten eggs, onion soup mix, water, and ketchup. Mix well.
- Add the breadcrumbs and ground beef to the bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into an oblong loaf and place it in your prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the meatloaf is crisp on the outside and cooked through. Optionally, top with more ketchup before serving.
- Let the meatloaf cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For the best flavor and texture, use ground beef with a fat content of about 85/15 or 90/10.
- To prevent the meatloaf from baking in excess drippings, consider using a meatloaf pan or placing crumpled foil at the bottom of your pan.
- The meatloaf should be baked uncovered to allow for a crispy crust to form.
